Makarun Heritage Rooms

Perfect location in Split - within minutes of the main strip of restaurants, bus/taxi rank and walking distance to view point. The hotel has its own great restaurant too with delicious breakfasts and great coffee. Makarun is run by truly excellent staff who went out of their way to accommodate for the needs of our family and gave us great recommendations for the best restaurants / beaches too. This was all much appreciated.

Wow!!! If I could rate our stay here as infinity out of 10 I would! Incredible B&B in the heart of Split! Superb location within close proximity to Diocletian’s Palace, the Riva promenade. We initially booked for 2 nights, and we changed our plans from staying on the islands to spending another 2 nights! Mario and Luka went above and beyond for my wife and I. We have never received such tremendous service. From the moment of booking, Mario and Luka communicated punctually via Whats app to recommend how to get there from Plitvice Lakes. They arranged private parking for our hired car, and Luka was waiting for us as we arrived. Luka even assisted with following him to the nearest petrol station and helped me put petrol in the car and then followed him to the car hire drop off. He also gave us restaurant and other recommendations with a map of Split. Mario gave us a free tour of split old town! Mario and Luka have impeccable manners and professionalism in the way they communicate and treat their guests. The accommodation was amazing. We spent our first 2 nights in the Luxury 2 level room Modern design in an 18th century building, then 2 nights in the standard smaller room but that made no difference and still amazing as this B&B is that good! Spotlessly clean rooms, with extremely comfortable beds, smart TV (which we didn’t use as there is too much to see in Split!), stunning bathrooms with olive oil shampoo and shower gel and overhead shower heads. Incredible fresh 3 course breakfast served by Mario (felt like 5 course). Mario kept asking if we wanted more croissants which are baked by them with fantastic local jams. Mario even remembers the coffee you prefer and how you like your eggs the next morning (it is that attention to detail that makes you feel special, as if you are a celebrity). Their restaurant is highly recommended for dinner! Amazing seafood pasta! Loved this place! Exceeded expectations is an understatement! Thank you!!! Perfection…

This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at and will certainly try to be back. Mario, Ivan and the staff made sure everything was as we required and could not do enough for us. Ivan met us from the shuttle bus at the station with umbrellas (it had been raining hard) and arranged for our luggage to be taken to the hotel. He walked with us to the hotel pointing out places of interest. He also gave us a map showing the local places to visit which we used and enjoyed the beautiful beaches and restaurants he suggested. The breakfast was 4 courses including eggs, yoghurt, croissant, and cake with as much coffee as you want. Unfortunately we only had one lunch here which was delicious and we wished we had eaten here more often. The accommodation was excellent and could not be faulted.

Luca, Marco and all of the staff went above and beyond - super friendly and accommodating. I was met from my ferry and given a guided tour on the way to the hotel and my luggage carried. The breakfast was absolutely delicious everyday, table service and a number of courses including dessert! I was fortunate to have lunch at the hotel due to Marco's kindness and it was 5 stars, the best in Croatia! The room was lovely and very comfortable, I wanted to take the pillows home they were so soft! excellent location in the Old Town, close to all sights. I was also given fantastic recommendations for restaurants, galleries, top sights etc. My taxi to the airport was also organised. I would 100% return in a heartbeat. One of the nicest places I've ever stayed.

I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights at the end of my Croatia vacation. I paid about 1340 Euro per night, and I thought I got wonderful value for money. The highlights: 1. The staff and service are exceptional and among the best I have every experienced. Luka, Mario, and their staff are universally warm, professional and helpful. Examples include Luka meeting me at the bus station, giving me a mini tour of the hotel area, carrying my bag, and sitting with me over a beer to explain the city map and attractions. Mario was present at breakfast almost every day to check on people and offer help. The waitresses at breakfast were so nice. Even the cleaning lady refilled my water bottle each day from the tap and put it back in the refrigerator. You really get the sense they care about their guests and furthering their skills. 2. The room is lovely. I had a single room, and it was comfortable, well designed, and had nice details including a fridge, beach towels, bathrobe, and toiletries. Everything nice and high quality. 3. Good fast wifi with smart TV. Heating/cooling system that works and good water pressure and temperature. 4. Wonderful breakfast with everything you could want - coffee/juice/water, croissant with jams, yogurt, eggs that you order; apparently there is also dessert, but I never made it :) 5. Perfect location - No more than 15 minutes walk to any major Split attraction or transit area. I really hope to be back in Split at some point, and if I do, I will stay here- no need to look elsewhere.
